Stadium of Fire

On July 2 at the BYU Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, David Archuleta took to the stage in front of tens of thousands of spectators for the Stadium of Fire, an Independence Day celebration organized by America’s Freedom Festival At Provo. The event was also broadcast live to U.S. troops world-wide, via the American Forces network.
Early in the show, a clip of 12-year-old David Archuleta singing the national anthem at the 2003 Stadium of Fire was screened. This was followed by present-day David appearing to continue the anthem, amidst a flyover of the Hill Air Force Base 288th Fighter Wing and fireworks.*
Donning a plaid shirt with patriotic colors, David then re-emerged to sing a short set of his album hits – A Little Too Not Over You, The Other Side of Down, Stomping The Roses, and Crush.
“These mountains are beautiful, Utah is just beautiful,” Archuleta told the crowd. “I love it here. It’s crazy how many of you are here. I love being home and want to thank all of you guys for the support you have given me.”*
Lastly, David paid tribute to the troops with a rousing, soul-stirring medley of My Country Tis Of Thee and America The Beautiful, earning him a standing ovation.
